Chandrababu Naidu, leader of the Telugu Desam Party (TDP), is set to take oath as the Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh on June 9, 2024. This comes after a significant victory in the state elections, where the TDP-led alliance secured a majority by winning 158 out of 175 assembly seats (mint) (Telangana Today).
Naidu’s return marks his fourth term as Chief Minister. He previously served from 1995 to 2004 and again after the state’s bifurcation in 2014. This election saw the TDP bounce back after a major defeat in 2019, leveraging an anti-incumbency wave and strategic alliances with the Jana Sena Party and the Bharatiya Janata Party (Telangana Today).
